The Snowman Who Fought Back

Strange But True

Frosty the Unmovable:

Some snowmen melt. Some snowmen fall over. And then there’s the one in Kentucky who apparently required a wrecking crew.

There are people who enjoy building snowmen. There are people who enjoy knocking snowmen down.

And then there’s the fellow who apparently thought he could take on a nearly 10-foot-tall Frosty with a vehicle.

He should have checked the building plans first.

Because this particular snowman had something special hidden beneath all that snow.

A big, beautiful, immovable tree stump.

And Frosty wasn’t going anywhere.

☃️ A Winter Wonderland With a Little Extra

Back in January 2019, Cody Lutz was enjoying a snowy weekend in Petersburg, Kentucky, with his fiancée, Lucy, and her sister, Laura.

Lucy was visiting from Mississippi and experiencing one of her biggest snowfalls ever.

Naturally, the family decided to make the most of it.

There was sledding, snowball fighting, and plenty of winter fun. But no proper snow weekend is complete without building a snowman.

So they went big.

Actually, they went nearly 10 feet big.

Using a large tree stump in the front yard as the foundation, they built an enormous snowman complete with a black top hat, a smiling face, and enough personality to become the neighborhood celebrity.

Frosty was the talk of the block. Neighbors waved, honked, and enjoyed the giant winter visitor.

Life was good.

Frosty was happy.

And somewhere, apparently, somebody wasn’t.

🚙 The Great Snowman Assault

When Cody returned home from work on Monday, something wasn’t quite right.

There were tire tracks across the lawn, leading directly toward Frosty.

At the bottom of the snowman, the snow had been knocked away, exposing the massive tree stump underneath.

There was even an imprint of a vehicle bumper in the snow.

Apparently, somebody had attempted to drive straight through the giant snowman.

One small detail had escaped their attention.

Frosty wasn’t built entirely out of snow.

The would-be vandal had discovered the difference between running over a snowman and running into a tree.

And Frosty?

Still standing.

Still smiling.

Still wearing his hat.

Talk about a cold reception.

🌳 The Secret Weapon

Cody hadn’t intentionally built a fortress. The tree stump was simply a convenient way to give the giant snowman a sturdy foundation.

But that accidental engineering decision turned out to be rather important.

The stump did exactly what a good foundation is supposed to do.

It stayed put.

The unknown driver, meanwhile, left behind a little evidence of the encounter.

Cody shared the incident on social media, joking that Frosty had been handing out life lessons to some very surprised four-wheel-drive vandals.

He described the whole thing as instant karma.

And it’s hard to argue with that assessment.

😂 Frosty Gets the Last Laugh

The story quickly spread beyond the neighborhood, attracting attention from news outlets including CBS News, Global News, and others.

People loved it.

Not because somebody’s vehicle may have suffered an unpleasant encounter, but because the whole episode had the perfect ingredients for a little everyday justice.

A family builds something that makes people smile.

Somebody tries to destroy it.

And the snowman wins.

There was no elaborate security system, no motion detector, and no neighborhood watch patrol.

Just a big old tree stump hiding underneath a friendly-looking pile of snow.

Frosty had a solid foundation and apparently a very good sense of humor.

🎩 A Lesson From the Frozen Front Yard

There’s something wonderfully ridiculous about this story.

We spend so much time worrying about the big things in life that sometimes we forget the simple pleasures.

A family enjoying a snowfall. A giant snowman making the neighborhood smile. Kids and grown-ups having a little winter fun.

And then somebody comes along and decides to ruin it.

But this time, the snowman had other plans.

So here’s to Cody and his family for building Frosty, and here’s to the mysterious driver who provided the entertainment.

Next time, perhaps try throwing a snowball.

It’s cheaper than testing your vehicle against a tree.

And remember, folks:

Don’t pick a fight with a snowman unless you’ve checked what’s hiding underneath.

Frosty didn’t just survive the winter.

He won the neighborhood.

The record is spinning. Let’s see where it takes us. 💿🎶
